Securedrop passes info from the CIA to "journalists". The journalists have 1 USB stick to run TAILS OS, 1 USB stick to capture the info encrypted, and another USB stick to use SecureDrop itself. The journalists get an encryption key and a decryption key. They pick up the info from the "sources" that post at SecureDrop and move it to a read only monitor that is not connected to the internet so that the info they picked up cannot be "hacked" by someone else.

 

The question is, if it is just info that is going to be published in the news anyway WHY TREAT IT LIKE CLASSIFIED INFO?
