Patheos.com published accounts from two women who say that Tyson behaved in a sexually inappropriate manner with them. Tyson was host of "Cosmos: Possible Worlds" on Fox in 2014 and a new edition of the series was to air on National Geographic in 2019.

In a statement, the producers of “Cosmos” said, "The credo at the heart of ‘Cosmos’ is to follow the evidence wherever it leads. The producers of ‘Cosmos’ can do no less in this situation.”

Dr. Katelyn Allers, an associate professor of physics and astronomy at Bucknell University, claims Tyson allegedly groped her at an American Astronomical Society after-party in 2009.

Tyson’s former assistant Ashley Watson described an incident in which he allegedly pressured her to join him at his apartment for wine. Later, he made several advances, claims Watson, who says she quit her job after the event.

These two allegations come one year after musician Tchiya Amet accused Tyson of raping her during graduate school.

Producers said they will conduct a thorough investigation. Meanwhile, Fox and National Geographic say they only recently learned of the allegations and were reviewing them.

Besides numerous TV appearances, Tyson is also the director of the Hayden Planetarium at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City.

In recent years, Tyson has made numerous appearances on television and the Internet, where he breaks down highly technical and scientifically complex aspects of space to the level in which children and adults can easily comprehend.

Tyson did not return requests for comment by The News.

The 60-year-old scientist, who lives in Lower Manhattan, has been married to his wife, Alice, for 30 years. Together they have two children.

He has won numerous awards over the years, including the Isaac Asimov Award and National Geographic Society’s Hubbard Medal.

Tyson has never shied away from controversial comments, especially when it comes to the relative frailty of our world.

“Even with all our technology and the inventions that make modern life so much easier than it once was, it takes just one big natural disaster to wipe all that away and remind us that, here on Earth, we’re still at the mercy of nature.”
