The people are protesting the dirty immigrants, many of them Muslim. Do the immigrants get shot? No, the locals protesting get shot. The city is captured by a hostile force.

I really wonder how they get cops to go along with this. If the police with the rifles are preferring the migrants, it means the city is lost.

Needless to say Paris wasn't always like this. It was always diverse, always not entirely French, the French always regarded it as an international city more than French. But it wasn't a dump for the world's worst people as it is now.
