Comey Strikes Deal For Congressional Testimony After Being Slapped With Subpoena

Fired FBI director James Comey tweeted on Sunday that he has reached a deal with GOP lawmakers regarding his upcoming testimony before congress regarding allegations of political bias at the FBI and DOJ.

Comey had previously rejected an October request by the House Judiciary Committee to appear at a closed door hearing - stating instead that he would only testify in public. After a Thanksgiving subpoena, the former FBI director vowed to "resist" unless the testimony was in an open setting - tweeting that he had "seen enough of their selective leaking and distortion," in reference to the Judiciary Committee - and filed a motion to quash the subpoena.

On Sunday, it appeared that an acceptable arrangement had been reached, as Comey tweeted: "Grateful for a fair hearing from judge. Hard to protect my rights without being in contempt, which I don’t believe in. So will sit in the dark, but Republicans agree I’m free to talk when done and transcript released in 24 hours. This is the closest I can get to public testimony."

Australia - New Legislation Equates Orphanage Trafficking To Modern-Day Slavery

When it comes to children and protecting them, the parents are supposed to be there, but when they aren't and there is no designated person other than an orphanage worker it leaves room for the children to become victimized. Australia is a country that has decided enough is enough when it comes to how children are handled in orphanages and have brought about legislation that equates orphanage trafficking to modern day slavery.

The new law is aimed at protecting orphaned children from "voluntourism" schemes which, according to Australian officials, are more harmful than helpful. BBC reports that an estimated 80% of children living in orphanages worldwide actually have at least one parent who is still alive. In some cases, these parents have been lured to orphanages in order to help attract volunteers.

ReThink Orphanages, an organization dedicated to raising awareness to negative impacts of orphanages, says that over 57% of Australian universities actually advertise orphanage placements. The report also notes that 14% of Australian schools promote visiting, volunteering or fundraising for orphanages abroad.

That doesn't sound like such a bad thing, but Australian legislatures assert that many of these orphanages are more like human trafficking centers. Australian Senator Linda Reynolds called orphan tourism the "perfect 21st-Century scam". Reynolds claims that foreign visitors wishing to help for a day may leave with a "sugar rush" from thinking they have done something good, but then turn around and share their experience on social media and this is creating room for scammers who are profiting at the expense of children.

A "good deed" such as helping an orphan for a day is doing more harm than good, according to Reynolds. She says the feeling and social media highs associated with helping children are turning them into "tourist attractions". The problem is apparent in Asia where many organizations accept children from parents on the promise of receiving an education, and being well taken care of but that is rarely the case.

The Forgotten Legacy of George H.W. Bush That the Media Won’t Tell You About

As the mainstream media celebrates his legacy, they won't be telling you about the crimes and corruption of George HW Bush.

On Friday November 30th, former President George H.W. Bush passed away at the age of ninety four, according to a statement released by his friends and family.

While the establishment celebrates the life of the former president and Americans line up to mourn their fallen leader, the facts that are being reported in the mainstream media are far different than the legacy he is leaving behind.

The Early Years

George Herbert Walker Bush was born on June 12, 1924 in Massachusetts to Prescott Sheldon Bush and Dorothy (Walker) Bush. Shortly after his birth, the family moved to Connecticut where he began his formal education at Greenwich Country Day School. At the age of eighteen, Bush joined the U.S. Navy.

During his tenure in the Navy, Bush was stationed with Torpedo Squadron 51 aboard the USS San Jacinto. On August 1, 1944 his unit launched an operation against the Japanese in the Bonin Islands. On September 2, 1944, Bush’s aircraft was downed leading to the death of eight Navy airmen, leaving Bush as the lone survivor. The episode later became known as the Chichijima incident and led to the future president being hailed as a war hero.

Political Career

Upon graduating from Yale, Bush began his career in politics and was elected chairman of the Harris County, Texas Republican Party in 1963. Three years later, Bush was elected to the US House of Representatives, marking the beginning of a meteoric rise which resulted in him being named director of the Central Intelligence Agency in 1976.

Before he was named head of the CIA, Bush was already heavily involved in covert operations according a book released in 2010, by author Russ Baker. In his book, Family of Secrets: The Bush Dynasty, America’s Invisible Government, and the Hidden History of the Last Fifty Years Baker revealed the relationship between Bush and former President Richard Nixon. A relationship, the author asserts, that eventually led to the Watergate scandal and Nixon’s resignation.

Donna Brazile: Cohen Guilty Plea a ‘Smoking Gun’

Sunday on ABC’s “This Week,” former interim Democratic National Committee chairwoman Donna Brazile said President Donald Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen guilty plea was a “smoking gun.”

Brazile said, “Michael Cohen once boasted he would take a bullet for Donald Trump. This week, he delivered the smoking gun.”

She continued, “Oh, yeah. That’s the smoking gun because once again, he said, what I provided before was consistent with what the president wanted me to say because I wanted to stay loyal to the president. Smoking gun saying, he said essentially that the White House, the president was lying at the time that he had no business dealing with Russia when he was looking to strike a deal with Russia on a tower.”

WATCH: Migrants Land Boat on California Beach 100 Miles from Border

Residents of a California beach community witnessed a surprising incident as a small boat packed with illegal aliens made landfall. The migrants made their way to the beach resort located about 100 miles from the Mexican border in a small panga boat.

Officials with the Laguna Beach Police Department tweeted a video showing the boat making landfall early Thursday morning and 13 illegal aliens running on shore. Police say that U.S. Border Patrol agents responded quickly and took custody of seven of the migrants and two suspected human smugglers who were allegedly waiting to pick up the migrants, the Orange County Register reported.

Laguna Beach Emergency Operations Coordinator Jordan Villwock told the local newspaper, “They (local residents) saw two men running for the cliffs. Officers were on scene in five minutes and immediately detained the two men who had ditched their life vests on the sand.”

A short time later, police found five more men hiding in the bushes and placed them in custody.

U.S. Border Patrol Agent Vincent Pirro told the local newspaper that of the two smugglers, one was a U.S. citizen and the other, an illegal alien on a “non-immigrant visa overstay.”

Officials said the panga boat is designed to carry up to 15 passengers. The video above shows 13 men running away from the boat and Border Patrol agents found 13 life vests, the Register reported. The agents seized the boat and nine gas cans.

Pirro said these types of long journeys are not that uncommon for human smuggling operations. “We see them leave from Ensenada a lot. They go around the Coronado Islands and north. They’ve gone as far as Half Moon Bay,” the agent explained.

The Register reported there have been 433 illegal aliens arrested 433 migrants illegally entering the U.S. via panga boats in the San Diego Sector since November 1, 2017. Pirro explained that the illegal aliens pay the smugglers between $13,000 and $17,000 for the boat ride to the U.S. Pirro said that makes it unlikely that the passengers were connected to the migrant caravan.

At least four of the men arrested were Mexican nationals and three others were Chinese, Pirro told the newspaper. The seven migrants face federal charges for immigration violations. The two men found waiting to pick up the migrants will be charged with human smuggling.

Khan’s London: 98-year-old Second World War Veteran Dies After Savage Home Invasion

Second World War veteran Peter Gouldstone, 98, has died in hospital after a savage beating in his London home.

Mr Gouldstone was found in a “semi-conscious” state by his son Simon, who described him as “a low key, peaceful and supportive sort of person” who was house-bound due to a heart condition.

Detective Inspector Paul Ridley said the elderly veteran’s bedroom had been “ransacked” during an apparent home invasion, with a small, not particularly valuable Panasonic television and some personal belongings being stolen.

“It was an absolutely horrendous attack on a vulnerable man who has medical conditions,” Ridley said on November 7th, before Mr Gouldstone passed away.

“The level of violence used was beyond belief.”

“We are all shocked and saddened by the news of Peter’s death. It is the worst news for his family and for all those who cared for and knew him,” commented Detective Inspector Paul Ridley, from the Met’s North Area CID, in an official statement on war veteran’s passing.

“I urge anyone who has information, no matter how small a detail, to search their conscience and contact police without delay.

“I particularly want to hear from people that may have been offered the Panasonic television that was stolen, or who saw either people or vehicles in the vicinity of Evesham Road, Enfield, N11 that may have appeared out of place.

“A Crimestoppers reward of £10,000 remains on offer for anyone who can provide information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for this despicable offence,” he pointed out.

“Finally, I would ask that Peter’s family are left alone to grieve and come to terms with their loss at this very difficult time.”

Dangerous Chemicals Are Found in Popular CBD Products… A new study detects synthetic marijuana and an OTC cough drug in vaping liquids

Several products from a leading brand of CBD vaping liquids contain a chemical that’s been linked to emergency room admissions and even death, according to a study published this month in Forensic Science International.

Researchers at Virginia Commonwealth University found that the products, all from Diamond CBD, a publicly traded company, contained a compound called 5F-ADB. That compound, often found in illegal synthetic marijuana products such as “K2” and “Spice,” can trigger paranoia and panic attacks, increase heart rate and blood pressure, and cause convulsions, organ damage, and even death, according to the Drug Enforcement Agency.

One of the tested products also contained dextromethorphan, a cough drug ingredient that is sometimes abused by teens looking for a high.

The findings raise questions about the rules and regulations around the burgeoning CBD market, says Michelle Peace, Ph.D., co-author of the study and an associate professor of forensic sciences at Virginia Commonwealth University. She points out that numerous products with CBD are now being sold directly to consumers, often with claims about their potential health benefits.

The products that Peace and her colleagues tested contained CBD derived from hemp. (CBD can also come from marijuana plants.)

“The industry is currently self-policing,” she says, noting that her limited testing focused on just a few products from one company. “How many others are there? Without federal regulations guiding the oversight and protections of the general public, there is going to be opportunity for abuse that is really going to put public health and public safety at risk.”

Diamond CBD’s chief executive officer, Kevin Hagen, told CR that current formulations of the products differ from those that were tested. He also said that the company’s products are subject to third-party testing and that as a result of Consumer Reports’ questions and the study findings, it planned to retest all its products and issue a recall if they are found to have been adulterated. “The company strives to provide the assurance that we supply the best, highest-quality products on the market,” Hagen said, adding that he supports regulation to ensure the safety and quality of CBD products.

Canova Contests Results Of Congressional Race Against Wasserman-Schultz, Demands Revote

Earlier today, former Congressional candidate Tim Canova announced that his legal team filed a complaint officially contesting the results of last month's congressional race, in which Canova faced off against former DNC Chairwoman, Debbie Wasserman-Schultz.

The Canova campaign website announced the move:

"Tim Canova, independent candidate in Florida’s 23rd Congressional District, has filed a motion for a court to invalidate the results of the 2018 general election and declare that a “new election shall proceed with hand-marked paper ballots that are counted by hand in public and reported immediately and publicly at the local precinct level.”

"…In the details of Canova’s court filing, Broward County Elections Supervisor Brenda Snipes [is alleged to have] “engaged in misconduct that was sufficient to change or place in doubt the results of the 2018 election.”

Canova cites Snipes, Dozel Spencer, the SOE Director of Voting Equipment, and other deputy supervisors “violated their oaths to faithfully perform their duties, engaged in repeated misconduct and violations of state and federal laws, including criminal statutes.”
