MOAR ON MAYOTTE

About 70% of the 10,000 babies born every year in the island's only maternity hospital in the main town of Mamoudzou are born to illegal migrants, mainly from the Comoran islands, according to official statistics.
It is said to be one of France's busiest - to the point that the government is considering declaring the hospital as non-French territory so that children born there do not automatically qualify for French citizenship.

The French government estimates that as many as 40 percent of Mayotte's population is made up of what it calls illegal residents, referring to them as being in "une situationirreguliere".

Earlier in March the Indian Ocean Island which is an overseas French territory was hit by a wave of social protests by its residents against insecurity and immigration from Comoros. French authorities expelled undocumented Comorians out of Mayotte. But Comoros which claims sovereignty over the island retaliated by refusing to accept back the expelled citizens insisting that Mayotte is a sovereign territory of the Comoros and not France.
So it should be to no surprise to anyone here that weak borders will lead to human trafficking. Mayotte Island proves just that in a real world case scenario. The island's resources overtaxed by an overwhelming illegal alien population. Illegal aliens make up nearly half of the island population, and so now the nation of Comoros is demanding claim to the island's sovereignty. It is nothing short of an invasion.
I think Mayotte Island can serve as a cautionary tale to anyone who supports an open border philosophy. The sources are either neutral or left leaning, so it will be hard for an opposing view point to paint it as right wing propaganda.
