I just had an epiphany. What if the Truman Show is not what they do to "bad" people, but instead "good" people that are pushing the narrative?
What if when X "dies," he's simply saved with one of the many cures that they have?
Then, since X cannot go back to the public eye, he "dies," and is put into a playpen area where The Truman Show plays out, everyone knowing and loving this abomination.
