First Hand Account of France Protests
Anons I asked a friend who witnessed (((Gilets Jaunes))) while in France. This is the account, with no extraneous commentary from me.
"when we were there it was about the gas tax. Especially for those who live in smaller towns. We were there the first weekend of the protests. We were stopped at every toll booth for very lo g periods of time (we were driving from Paris to Normandy) and it got increasingly more violent the longer we were there. Our last day, we were driving back to our hotel from Mont St. Michel (driving only back roads to avoid protesters) and we were stopped at a roundabout with protesters burning tires right in front of us. We could feel the heat. And we felt lucky to get through. It was also tough to get gas. The first day of the protests, all the pumps in smaller towns were closed. At any rate, your question was, what was it about? All the French people we spoke to talked about the gas tax and how the tax was too much. They feel overtaxed. And are sick of it. Feel free to ask me anything about it. It was scary at times. Quite frankly."
