I couldnt believe how much food they had, fully stocked shelves, extra large cabinets fully loaded and in the garage a years worth of grains, rice and beans. That pretty much changed my life seeing that because my family had bare cupboards all the time besides just neccessities. Im not a mormon but they sure the hell know how to store food and prepare better than any people on earth. I now store like they do because its smart, wise, and about safety.
I watched a video on far north bushcraft (youtube) and he made a water filtration unit similar to a Berkey Filter from 2 plastic buckets and 3 candlestick filters for like 100 bucks. Alot cheaper than a berkey whick is upwards of 400 bucks.
