A long-awaited memo filed Tuesday revealed that former national security advisor Michael Flynn has helped the special counsel and other prosecutors on “several” investigations

That reference has touched off speculation about what other cases Flynn is helping with in addition to Mueller’s Russia probe

The retired lieutenant general could be providing assistance on Turkey’s lobbying efforts in the U.S., a now-deceased political operative’s hunt for deleted Clinton emails, or a “peace plan” proposed by former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen

The special counsel’s memo in the Michael Flynn case says that the former national security advisor is cooperating with prosecutors on “several” different investigations.

The wording of that memo, which said that Flynn has provided “substantial” assistance to the government, has touched off widespread speculation about what other investigations Flynn has provided information for outside of the special counsel’s core probe into possible collusion between Trump associates and the Russian government.

The memo makes clear that Flynn has provided assistance regarding the Trump transition team’s interactions with Russian government officials. Special counsel Robert Mueller recommended that Flynn receive no jail time due to his assistance to the government. He met 19 times with Mueller’s team or prosecutors in other Justice Department offices, according to the memo.

Flynn’s interactions with Russians during the transition period is the core component of the case against the retired lieutenant general. He admitted to making false statements about conversations he had in December 2016 with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak regarding U.S. sanctions against Russia.

But the structure of the heavily-redacted Mueller memo suggests that Flynn is helping prosecutors with at least two outside investigations, as well as other components of the Mueller probe. The specifics of that cooperation is impossible to glean from Mueller’s sentencing memo due to heavy redactions. Flynn’s attorney did not respond to a request for comment.

Hezbollah Puts Forces On High Alert, Warns Israel From Any Attack On Lebanon

On December 5, Hassan Hoballah, a member of Lebanese Hezbollah’s political bureau, warned Israel from launching any military operation inside Lebanon and stressed that the “resistance” will response to any such aggression.

“The days when Israel could simply attack Lebanon are over, even though the initiative to attack is in Israel’s hands,” the Iranian Press TV quoted Hoballah as saying.

Earlier in December, the Israeli military launched operation “Northern Shield” to destroy cross-border tunnels between Lebanon and Israel. By now, the operation has been conducted inside Israel territory only.

Hoballah revealed that Hezbollah fighters are on “a constant state of alert and surveillance, and are assessing the situation” in southern Lebanon. Hezbollah’s official added that the group’s action will depend on developments in the field.

Israel has been slowly and steadily working to set a foothold for a possible war on Hezbollah in Lebanon since the beginning of year. First, the Middle Eastern country stepped up its military operations in Syria against what it claims are arms shipments to Hezbollah.

Later, Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, revealed alleged missile sites of Hezbollah in the heart of the Lebanese capital, Beirut, during his speech at the UN General Assembly in New York. Netanyahu even vowed to act against any threat in Syria or in Lebanon.

Some experts say that Israel appears to be eager to wage a new war on Lebanon not only to send a message to Iran, but also to overcome its internal political crisis.

SecDef Mattis: '40 Years Is Enough' in Afghanistan

I must say, "Yes, yes, a thousand times yes," to Defense Secretary James Mattis, who yesterday said that "40 years is enough" of foreign powers in Afghanistan. Speaking to reporters before a meeting with India defense chief Nirmala Sitharaman, Mattis explained that "it’s time for everyone to get on board, support the United Nations, support Prime Minister Modi, support President Ghani and all those who are trying to maintain peace and make for a better world here."

That's a nice sentiment, but you have to wonder if even Mattis fully appreciates just how wrong our Afghan mission has become – and just how quickly it got that way.

We aren't a colonial power, although colonialism is exactly what we've been trying to do in Afghanistan since 2002 – remake it in something like our image. Even worse, Afghanistan is not a colonizable country*. At least, not without wanton killing and destruction that would make Curtis LeMay blanch.

So it's been time to leave for a long time already.

And if the Taliban comes back and welcomes in ISIS or al Qaeda? Well, what of it? In 2001 we showed how to topple a government there, on the cheap, in six weeks or less – or your next invasion is free!

And the "next invasion" wouldn't have been a joke.

If necessary, we could have replayed something like the 2001 invasion a half-dozen times by now, for a fraction of what we've spent in blood and treasure on our haphazard and doomed attempt at semi-colonization.

Best of all, we wouldn't have poured untold hundreds of billions of dollars into a corrupt and useless government – which only incentivizes more bad behavior. Why make peace, or even govern decently, when the other guy keeps giving you money not to?

A sane Afghan policy would have consisted of kicking in the door, killing a bunch of bad guys, and then skedaddling until and unless we have to do it again. Eventually, the Afghans would figure out this terrorist-harboring stuff doesn't pay. What has paid for their elites, quite handsomely, is our perennial occupation.

Iran: A Rumor of War. Such an Attack would be a “Leap into Darkness”

Consider a conversation between long-time Middle East reporter Reese Erlich and former U.S. ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Charles Freeman, Jr. on the people currently directing the Trump administration’s policy toward Iran. Commenting on National Security Advisor John Bolton’s defense of the invasion of Iraq, Freeman says

“The neoconservative group think their good ideas were poorly implemented in Iraq,” and that the lesson of the 2003 invasion that killed upwards of 500,000 people and destabilized an entire region is, “If at first you don’t succeed, do the same thing again somewhere else.”

That “somewhere else” is Iran, and Bolton is one of the leading voices calling for confronting the Teheran regime and squeezing Iran through draconian sanctions “until the pips squeak.” Since sanctions are unlikely to have much effect—they didn’t work on North Korea, have had little effect on Russia and failed to produce regime change in Cuba—the next logical step, Erlich suggests, is a military attack on Iran.

Such an attack would be a leap into darkness, since most Americans—and their government in particular—are virtually clueless about the country we seem bound to go to war with. Throwing a little light on that darkness is a major reason Erlich wrote the book. For over 18 years he has reported on Iran, talking with important government figures and everyday people and writing articles on the country that increasingly looks to be our next little war. Except it will be anything but “little.”

History matters when it comes to life and death decisions like war, but unfortunately, one of the mainstream media’s glaring deficiencies is its lack of interest in the subject. If newspapers like the New York Times had bothered to read Rudyard Kipling on Afghanistan or T.E. Lawrence on the British occupation of Iraq, the editors might have had second thoughts about supporting the Bush administration’s invasions of those countries. Of course, this was not just the result of wearing historical blinders. As Erlich points out, the mainstream media almost always follows in the wake of American foreign policy, more cheerleader than watchdog.

Planned Parenthood Caught Selling Aborted Baby Parts Makes Over $100 Million Doing Abortions

A Planned Parenthood affiliate at the center of the baby body part sales scandal recently reported a record $100 million income.

Planned Parenthood Mar Monte, based in San Jose, California, was caught in a series of undercover videos allegedly selling aborted baby body parts for profit. A U.S. House investigative committee later referred it to federal authorities for criminal investigation, but there has been no word on the investigation for almost a year.

Now, according its Federal Form 990 filed with the federal government, the California abortion chain is reaping in a record amount of money.

Planned Parenthood Mar Monte reported an income of $109.7 million during its last fiscal year (July 1, 2016, to June 30, 2017), including $70.4 million from taxpayers. California is one of more than a dozen states that forces taxpayers to pay for elective abortions.

The abortion chain paid its top six employees about $1.3 million in salaries, and reported an “excess income” of $15.5 million, according to the filing.

A large chunk of the money came from taxpayers, but the undercover investigation by the Center for Medical Progress suggests that more may have come from the sales of aborted baby body parts.

In 2016, CMP leader David Daleiden outlined how much money the affiliate could make selling aborted baby parts in a year: “Planned Parenthood Mar Monte did 18,035 abortions [in 2015] – if each abortion yielded just one ‘usable’ ‘product of conception’ for StemExpress, Planned Parenthood Mar Monte stood to gain nearly $1 million every year from its sale of tiny baby hearts, lungs and brains.”

StemExpress is a human tissue procurement company that worked with Planned Parenthoods, including the Mar Monte branch. Its promotional materials mentioned “financially profitable” partnerships, though Planned Parenthood has denied any illegal activity.

What will happen next remains to be seen. In December 2017, the U.S. Department of Justice took up the U.S. House committee’s calls for an investigation into the alleged illegal aborted baby body parts sales. The committee also found evidence that Planned Parenthood Mar Monte and others may have broken HIPAA patient privacy laws.

“These violations occurred when the abortion clinics disclosed patients’ individually identifiable health information to StemExpress to facilitate the TPB’S efforts to procure human fetal tissue for resale,” the House committee explained.

According to the committee, StemExpress put tissue procurement technicians inside abortion facility to harvest aborted babies’ body parts. These technicians received patients’ private medical records and were permitted to interview patients, the committee said.

The procurement technicians were paid hourly and a per tissue “bonus” for each item they procured; and then StemExpress paid the abortion facility for each fetal tissue and blood sample, according to the panel’s investigation.

China’s social credit system is in full swing and has already blacklisted more than 15 million Chinese residents from travel. Is it coming soon to the U.S.?

Recently, The Organic Prepper reported some shocking news of China’s newest rollout: a social credit system.

It’s a system of surveillance and governance using a social scoring system based on the state’s perceived trustworthiness of the individual. Not only are social media and financial accounts tied into a person’s “score” – much like a credit score number – but also friends and associates are compelled to distance themselves from an offending person, otherwise, their score can be dropped too.

The program is called the Sesame Score. Symbolically this represents “open sesame”or doorways that are either opened or blocked to the individual who tries to move freely.

A Totalitarian Dream

This is every totalitarian government’s ultimate dream: a society that polices itself, its thoughts, its beliefs and each other.

It’s the ultimate power imbalance and crushes individual will. If such a scoring system should be used it should be in cases of state or institution accountability such as checking politicians’ funding sources or Glassdoor.com where employees and interviewees can evaluate companies to let others know about the real company culture. But social scoring cannot work the other way around in a free society.

The ramifications of this are perfectly encapsulated by the episode of Netflix’s futurist show Black Mirror called “Nosedive” in season 3 episode 1, where a woman trying to boost her social credit status quickly takes a turn for the worse. Out of all the shows in the series, that episode makes my heart pound right out of my chest because it seems the most real of all the surreal dystopian themes. It’s panic-inducing to realize as you’re watching it that this nightmare is happening now and could happen to you shortly.

Although China’s social credit system had the goal of being in use by 2020, it’s already in full bloom in some regions such as Hangzhou, southwest of Shanghai. Mainstream media reported that the program is optional but that is not really the case because the very nature of the program compels people to join or “die” as you will see.
