Fully aware the Mil was 50-100 years ahead of civ tech when I was a kid. Could be 200-300 now.
Beta-Max tapes were around a long time before the public got Beta/VHS/LaserDisc movies

Yep and I have been reading thousands of those and non fiction since mid 70's
One of the first I remember around 5-7y/o was the "Book of knowledge" which I though was spoopy as a kid because I thought it was "No Ledge"..was science fact compendium for kids.
