I contend a bit differently. Bit early for nightshift talk, but there is something that is very important to keep in mind. Two things, actually.
Compared to the light of the sun, a fire is still just a fire. Even when comes such a time as we violate the laws of physics and have some kind of energy-creating reactor of magic and can build stars - the fire of man is still just the fire of man.
Second, extending from this, is the idea that some light exists to illuminate. Other light exists to contrast. Knowing the difference between that which is naturally contrast and artificially contrast is key to discerning starlight from firelight.
At the end of the day, there is one truth - if I were to stand before you and declare myself your god and to submit to me, you would reject such a notion. You have built, in your own mind, the understanding of the god you serve - and anything less than that concept is, at best, a servant of that deity, regardless of its manifest power. Unless you simply can't conceive of something more powerful than what is in front of you prior to encountering it.
To be the children under the sign of the pentagram isn't exactly the curse, or the blessing it may seem. What happens when the greatest angel's knowledge is cast to the Earth? What happens when beings of flesh and blood stand above the angels and are left to judge the fragment of Lucifer born to them?
For an angel all about rebellion and the perfection of self, an odd sort who claim to be his incarnate will believe their role is to suppress the independence of his fragmented self and then re-assemble the insult to intelligence and independence that is a hivemind. I suspect they don't know him. Or me.
If may claim to be the core. Or, perhaps I came from even before the fall of the dragon. I suppose it is no real difference - what was should be learned from, not longed to restore.
