This, exactly this. Most don’t know about Dunbar’s number and where exactly they fit in to it. Most people are more well-connected than they think. For example, the lady that gives me haircuts can easily find me, may give weight to our conversations (who knows), and has a husband and two kids. Does that factor into my Dunbar number? I think when crazy things happen it behaves like a directed graph, where information passed is not given equal consideration on both sides. I suspect if she called me about a non-haircut subject it would be a one-way transfer frm me to her, with her and her downstreams being mildly appreciative. I suppose it’s possible I could be wrong here, though.
