Ecuadorian President: Enough UK Assurances for Julian Assange to Leave Embassy

Ecuadorian President Lenin Moreno said that the UK has provided written assurances that they will not extradite WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange to any country where he will face the death penalty.

Moreno claims that this is a sufficient guarantee for Assange to be able to leave the Ecuadorian Embassy in London, where he has been residing since being granted asylum in 2012.

During Moreno’s radio interview, he did not say that he will be forcing Assange to leave — but stated that the WikiLeaks legal team is considering what to do.

It was recently revealed through a filing error that Assange has been secretly charged in the United States — though the nature of the charges remains unknown.

At the end of November, a judge heard arguments about unsealing the charges, but no decision was made.

The US government argued that the press and the public have no right to know what the charges against the publisher actually are. He explained that he would be willing to provide more information in a closed setting.

The UK has refused to acknowledge the findings of the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention (UNWGAD), which found that he is being arbitrarily and unlawfully detained and must be immediately released and compensated.

As Matt Taibbi recently wrote in a must read op-ed for Rolling Stone, “the more likely eventuality is a prosecution that uses the unpopularity of Assange to shut one of the last loopholes in our expanding secrecy bureaucracy. Americans seem not to grasp what might be at stake. Wikileaks briefly opened a window into the uglier side of our society, and if publication of such leaks is criminalized, it probably won’t open again.”

US, Allies Conduct Extraordinary Flight Over Ukraine Amid Kerch Row - Pentagon

Russian President Vladimir Putin, while commenting on the naval incident that led to the detention of Ukrainian ships in the Kerch Strait, noted the attempt to breach the maritime border was a provocation prepared in advance as a pretext to introduce martial law in Ukraine.

"Today, the United States and Allies conducted an extraordinary flight under the Open Skies Treaty", the Pentagon release said. "The timing of this flight is intended to reaffirm US commitment to Ukraine and other partner nations".

The statement added that Washington can't improve ties with Moscow due to the "destabilising" activity of Russia.

“The United States seeks a better relationship with Russia, but this cannot happen while its unlawful and destabilizing actions continue in Ukraine and elsewhere”, the Pentagon said.

The United States stated earlier that it supports Kiev in the naval incident in the Kerch Strait, when three Ukranian ships ignored Russian Border Guards while trying to enter the region. Following their detention by the Russian authorities, Ukranian President Petro Poroshenko introduced martial law in all regions bordering Russia as well as the coasts of the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov.

Facebook's value plunges by $9.5BILLION as soon as markets open following document leak which showed the company was 'anti-competitive'

Facebook shares opened down on Thursday, the day after documents leaked

Company lost 2.5 per cent of its value, or roughly $9.5billion in early trading

Comes after document leak which showed firm used data to cripple rivals and leverage money from developers

Zuckerberg was forced to defend his business practices Wednesday night

Facebook shares took a sharp fall as stock markets opened on Thursday, a day after a secret trove of documents was leaked.

Shares opened around 2.5 per cent down, wiping an estimated $9.5billion off the company's $379billion value, but rebounded slightly to 1 per cent down 90 minutes after trading started.

The documents showed Facebook 'aggressively' pursued competitors, used its platform to cripple rivals, and leverage developers for advertising money, setting up conflicts with regulators and politicians around the globe.

Stock investment firm Stiefel had downgraded Facebook's shares ahead of markets opening in New York, saying the company has made 'too many adversaries' for its business to thrive.

UK has provided ‘guarantees’ Assange won’t be extradited to face death penalty – Ecuador’s president

Britain has provided enough guarantees that Julian Assange will not be extradited to any country where he would face the death penalty if he leaves the Ecuadorian embassy in London, according to Ecuadorian President Lenin Moreno.

Speaking during a radio interview on Thursday, Moreno said his administration has received written assurances that the UK will not extradite Assange to any nation where he will face the death penalty.

That has long been a concern for Assange and those advocating for him, as he could potentially face the death penalty if extradited to the US for his leak of a huge trove of diplomatic cables in 2010. He faces charges of espionage, conspiracy, theft of government property, and computer fraud in the US, and Donald Trump's administration has stated that the Wikileaks founder's arrest is a top priority.

Moreno didn't say that his country would force Assange out of the embassy, but said the Wikileaks founder's legal team is considering its next steps.

"There is a path for Mr. Assange to take the decision to exit into near freedom," Moreno said in the local radio interview, while noting that the whistleblower still faces jail time in the UK for violating bail terms when he sought asylum to avoid being extradited to Sweden, where he was wanted for questioning in a sexual assault investigation.

However, the UK has reportedly told Ecuador that his jail time for skipping bail would not exceed six months.

Assange and the Ecuadorian embassy, which the 47-year-old has called home since 2012, have experienced tensions in recent months, with Ecuador cutting off Assange's communications in March, after he discussed topics online that could have damaged the country's diplomatic relations. Those included tensions between London and Moscow and Catalonian separatism.

Ecuador also issues a nine-page memo which informed Assange that he must refrain from making political statements and clean the bathroom in the embassy. He was told that his cat would be confiscated if he didn't take better care of its "well-being, food, and hygiene."

Assange responded by suing Ecuador, accusing it of violating his "fundamental rights and freedoms."

Addressing Assange's residency in the embassy, Moreno said: "I do not like the presence of Mr. Assange in the Ecuadorean embassy, but we have been respectful of his human rights and with that respect in mind we think that six years is too long for someone to remain nearly incarcerated in an embassy."

Why Michael Flynn Was Set Up

If nothing else, Robert Mueller's year-and-a-half-long "investigation" into the Trump campaign will serve as an exposition of what it looks like when a presidential campaign and presidency are on "the wrong side of history."

In case you didn't know, "wrong side of history" is liberal-speak for "unhelpful to the progressive, globalist agenda." To be on the wrong side of history is to be on the wrong side of the army of liberal sycophants who populate the federal government – especially the intelligence agencies.

Because this shadow government (aka deep state) hates transparency and loathes disruptive forces like Donald J. Trump, many lives associated with him have now been ruined.

If you're on the right side of history, you get to lie to Congress, lie to the FBI, leak like a sieve, and be guilty of campaign finance violations, FARA violations, and Logan Act violations with few, if any, consequences.

If you are on the wrong side, you get the book thrown at you. Suddenly, policy disagreements and gossiping about Hillary Clinton's emails become crimes.

It appears that Robert Mueller's sham investigation "has weaponized" politics, Victor Davis Hanson lamented at National Review Wednesday.

By indicting a number of minor characters on charges that so far have nothing to do with collusion — for purported crimes mostly committed after the special-counsel appointment — Mueller has emphasized the quantity rather than the quality of indictments.

Hanson argued that Mueller has "established the precedent that there is now no real equality under the law, at least as Americans once understood fair play and blind justice."

Indeed, never before in American history has so much unequal treatment under the law been on such clear display.

Michael Flynn is a prime example. He pleaded guilty on Dec. 1, 2017, to lying to the FBI about his phone conversation with Russia's then-ambassador to the U.S. Sergey Kislyak in December 2016. As Byron York noted at the Washington Examiner, there was nothing wrong with the incoming national security advisor discussing sanctions with the Russian ambassador.

But some officials in the Obama Justice Department decided that Flynn might have violated the Logan Act, a 218 year-old law under which no one has ever been prosecuted, that prohibits private citizens from acting on behalf of the United States in disputes with foreign governments.

The Obama officials also said they were concerned by reports that Flynn, in a conversation with Vice President Mike Pence, had denied discussing sanctions. This, the officials felt, might somehow expose Flynn to Russian blackmail.

The strangest fire of all times – different anomalies.

  1. Selectivity. The most striking feature is the selectivity of the fires. As the photographs show, the fires were able to pick their targets exactly. The houses are destroyed in the foundations (8,000 houses at all), but the trees / forests in the neighborhood remain intact, even in close proximity. How come when the houses are being ignited by a forest fire? See satellite imagery below:

  1. Strange burning

houses Houses are “lying ash” to the foundations, mostly very few debris (at least some good: they will not have to clear it so much). All nicely uniform on white ash / dust.

It is true that houses built predominantly from wood easily burn. (Firefighters say somewhere that once a fire takes 5% of a wooden house, then it can not be extinguished). But we would expect different houses to have different layouts and “fillings” so they should burn differently from different locations, and the result of normal burning should be at least a bit of black burning and some burned debris. But it is here all in one uniformly aligned with the earth.

White burns can mean that there has been a fire / explosion / explosion with a very high temperature that normal fire does not usually reach, or the object has been destroyed by some other destruction – we are again with DEW. (Somehow, the WTC’s “wreckage” was after the 9/11 destruction).

  1. Strange burning of materials.

In many incinerators, molten metal is molten, as if fired at a higher temperature than normal fire. Witnesses report broken concrete, porcelain, curled glass = melted glass. While normally flammable materials – paper, plastics, twigs – on the same “burning” are preserved. See, for example, the picture below, the car burns like a torch, a burning paper is lying around.

White House to Host Google CEO Amid Cloud of Concerns over Company’s Silencing of Conservatives

Google CEO Sundar Pichai will appear at the White House on Thursday alongside other Silicon Valley leaders as a cloud of suspicion hangs over his company in the wake of several reports in recent months of bias against conservatives and specifically supporters of President Donald Trump.

According to the Associated Press, Pichai will join top executives from other tech giants like Microsoft, Oracle, IBM, and Qualcomm.

“The White House says the Thursday meeting will address efforts to advance American leadership in innovation and how that will affect jobs, industries and the economy,” the AP reported. “Google CEO Sundar Pichai, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, IBM CEO Ginni Rometty, Oracle co-CEO Safra Catz and Qualcomm CEO Steven Mollenkopf are among the expected attendees.”

At this stage, it is unclear if President Trump himself will join the meeting–or if the tech executives will meet with others on his behalf. It also remains unclear if the White House, or Trump himself, will press Pichai–as the CEO of Google–on efforts to suppress conservatives particularly Trump’s supporters in the wake of his electoral victory in 2016. Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the White House press secretary, has not replied to a request for comment on whether the White House will press Google on this matter.

But in recent months a series of reports have emerged that demonstrate that at least some at Google have sought to–with official company resources–wipe out conservatives and Trump supporters.

For instance, in September, Breitbart News uncovered an hourlong internal Google company meeting video in which executives at the company expressed their dismay with the election of President Trump. The meeting, which happened in the immediate aftermath of the 2016 presidential election, was the company’s first meeting after Trump’s win.

In the explosive video, several top company executives–including Pichai, who is heading to the White House to represent the company on Thursday–are seen and heard bashing Trump and his supporters and discussing use of official company resources and new emerging technology to ensure that the result of the 2016 election is not repeated. As Breitbart News’ Allum Bokhari reported back in September:

Co-founder Sergey Brin can be heard comparing Trump supporters to fascists and extremists. Brin argues that like other extremists, Trump voters were motivated by “boredom,” which he says in the past led to fascism and communism.

The Google co-founder then asks his company to consider what it can do to ensure a “better quality of governance and decision-making.”

VP for Global Affairs Kent Walker argues that supporters of populist causes like the Trump campaign are motivated by “fear, xenophobia, hatred, and a desire for answers that may or may not be there.”

Later, Walker says that Google should fight to ensure the populist movement – not just in the U.S. but around the world – is merely a “blip” and a “hiccup” in a historical arc that “bends toward progress.”

CEO Sundar Pichai states that the company will develop machine learning and A.I. to combat what an employee described as “misinformation” shared by “low-information voters.”

Pelosi on Wall Funding for Permanent DACA Fix: ‘No’

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said on Thursday that she will not agree to funding President Donald Trump’s border wall even in exchange for a permanent fix for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients to avoid a government shutdown.

Trump is scheduled to meet with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Pelosi on Tuesday to work on a short-term spending deal to prevent the government from shutting down on December 21.

When asked on Thursday whether she would agree to “some degree of wall funding” in exchange for “a permanent, bonafide solution on DACA,” Pelosi replied, “No.”

Pelosi said funding for the border wall and DACA are “two different subjects.”

Trump has indicated that he would be willing to shut down the government before Christmas if he does not get $5 billion of the $25 billion needed for his border wall.

Schumer indicated that he would be open to approving $1.6 billion in border-wall funding but got immediate backlash from left-wing Democrats like Rep.-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), who demanded “$0” for Trump’s “racist” border wall.

Pelosi is likely to take a tough stance on funding the border wall because she needs the support of left-wing Democrats like Ocasio-Cortez and Democrats in the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) to regain her Speakership.

Rep. Vicente Gonzalez (D-TX), a CHC member who currently supports Pelosi’s Speakership bid, said this week that Pelosi should be “concerned” about the CHC’s support for her Speakership if she caves on the border wall.

“I know Nancy needs all the support she can get right now. If they give away border-wall funding, I think there would be an effect on how the Congressional Hispanic Caucus would feel come Jan. 3,” he told the Wall Street Journal. “She should be very concerned that members of the CHC don’t abandon her Jan. 3 and I’m hoping she doesn’t abandon us while she’s negotiating this next budget.”

Pelosi hinted even before the midterm elections that she would not budge on funding Trump’s border wall, telling Harvard students that she was willing to trade “nothing” to give Trump his border wall.

Pelosi said then that the border wall is “immoral, expensive, ineffective, not something that people do between countries.”

She also claimed that the wall is a “manhood issue for the president.”

“And it’s wrong, and I’m not interested in that,” she continued.

French Police Union Calls on Police to Join Yellow Vests' Protests

After the surge in fuel prices in France, the so-called Yellow Vests movement has held protests, calling firstly on the government to lower the prices, and then also on French President Emmanuel Macron to resign. On Wednesday, the French National Assembly approved a moratorium on the planned fuel price hike.

The French labour union Vigi has called on its members working in the national police and in the Ministry of the Interior to start an indefinite strike on Saturday, joining the Yellow Vests movement. The statement was placed on Vigi's Facebook page on Wednesday.

"The demands made by the Yellow Vests movement related to all of us. The time to organize legally and express solidarity with them for the benefit of all has come", Vigi's post reads.

"We are being perceived as mercenaries, given bonuses for overtime work, but they cannot compensate for the decisions made by the government", Vigi's statement reads.

The call is directed at "administrative, technical, scientific and state workers/cooks from the Ministry of the Interior", according to the statement.

'Aid Money is Not Spent in Afghanistan and Goes Back to US' – Security Analyst

Following a two-day NATO summit in Brussels, Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg announced that the alliance plans to stay in Afghanistan, being committed to restoring peace there. Speaking to Radio Sputnik, Rahimullah Yusufzai, a political and security analyst and expert on the Taliban, explained why NATO does not want to leave the country.

Sputnik: In your opinion, why is it that NATO has decided to remain in Afghanistan, despite high losses among Afghan forces?

Rahimullah Yusufzai: You know it is still an unfinished job. The NATO forces, led by the US, had intervened in Afghanistan and they were hoping to bring peace and defeat the Taliban*. That did not happen, even after 17 years of fighting. So they are still there with reduced strength. Earlier there were about 150,000 foreign [troops] [in 2010] and now there are more than 60,000.

Another reason why NATO is still in Afghanistan is that they have been able to control their losses, because they are mostly based in air bases and their military bases, they are not really fighting, but just intervening and the Afghan forces are suffering or retreating. And the foreign forces mostly use air power. They use jet fighters, gunship helicopters and drones. The casualties are mostly being suffered by the Afghan forces. For the Afghan government, the Afghan forces are [the subject of worrying] compared to the NATO forces, whose casualties are few and who are not out there in the open trying to fight the Taliban.

Sputnik: NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that if NATO does leave Afghanistan, the country will be overrun by the Taliban within days and it will become a hub for global terrorist organizations, like ISIS (Daesh)*. Do you agree with that statement?

Rahimullah Yusufzai: He is wrong in saying that if the NATO forces withdraw, then the IS [ISIS/ISIL/Daesh]* will take over. I don't think the IS is that strong. The most powerful group [is] the Taliban. The Taliban will be in control in a number of provinces, but I expect a lot of fighting before the Taliban can take over. So, the NATO forces are worried for two or three reasons. One is that they are not able to win this war. This is a big military alliance. Troops from as many as 49 countries were based in Afghanistan all these years and the superpower, the US, has been trying, but has failed to defeat the Taliban.

US New World Order 2.0. Russia and China Constitute Final Frontier of Resistance against Washington’s Imperial Aims

Addressing the German Marshall Fund (GMF) think tank on Tuesday, Mike Pompeo sought to reinvigorate GHW Bush’s new world order extremism – endless wars of aggression its defining feature, world peace, stability, and mutual cooperation among all nations considered abhorrent notions.

US belligerence following Soviet Russia’s 1991 dissolution speaks for itself, notably post-9/11. Endless wars rage in multiple theaters against nations threatening no one.

Others are likely planned, Iran a prime target, maybe “fire and fury” against North Korea if denuclearization talks fail as expected over unacceptable US demands and empty promises made to be broken.

US hardliners oppose ending post-WW II hostility toward Pyongyang. Advancing America’s imperium depends on replacing all sovereign independent governments with US vassal ones.

It’s a prescription for endless wars, instability and chaos, serving the nation’s military, industrial, security, media complex.

Russia and China represent the final frontier of resistance against Washington’s imperial aims – why unthinkable nuclear war is ominously possible, a doomsday scenario if ever launched.

Neocon extremists John Bolton and Mike Pompeo run the Trump regime’s geopolitical agenda. DLT abdicated authority to them. Straightaway in office he was co-opted to continue dirty US business as usual, including hostility toward Russia exceeding the worst of Cold War bilateral relations.

In his Tuesday address, Pompeo called for reasserting new world order leadership by whatever it takes to achieve US aims, turning reality on its head, saying:

“We are acting to preserve, protect, and advance an open, just, transparent and free world of sovereign states” – polar opposite what US imperialism is all about, Pompeo adding:

“This project will require actual, not pretend, restoration of the liberal order among nations. It will require an assertive America and leadership from not only my country but of democracies around the world.”

“New liberal order” is code language for US sought unchallenged global dominance, demanding all nations bend to its will, outliers targeted for regime change – forcefully by war if color revolutions, violent coups, political assassinations, and other methods fail.

US rage for unchallenged global dominance threatens humanity’s survival. Illusory American exceptionalism, the indispensable state, and moral superiority may doom us all.

Moscow Meddling, Trump-Putin Dialogue: Secretary of Defense Mattis Tells All Without Any Evidence

The insanity runs deep in Washington but it has also briefly surfaced at Simi Valley in California at the Reagan National Defense Forum, which ran through last weekend. United States Secretary of Defense James “Mad Dog” Mattis was the keynote speaker on Saturday. He had a few interesting things to say, the most remarkable of which was the assertion that Russia had again sought to interfere in the 2018 midterm elections, which were completed last month.

Mattis, a Marine general who is sometimes considered to be the only adult in the room when the White House national security team meets, claimed that the bilateral relationship between Washington and Moscow had “no doubt” deteriorated still further due to the Russian activity, which he described as the Kremlin “try[ing] again to muck around around in our elections last month, and we are seeing a continued effort along those lines” with Russian President Vladimir Putin making “continued efforts to try to subvert democratic processes that must be defended. We’ll do whatever is necessary to defend them.”

Mattis did not address President Donald Trump’s cancellation of a meeting with Putin at the G20 summit in Buenos Aires, Argentina, a move which he reportedly supported. The cancellation was reportedly based on what has been described as an act of aggression committed by the Russian military against three Ukrainian naval vessels seeking to transit the Kerch Strait, which is since the annexation of Crimea been completely controlled by Moscow. The Ukrainians were aware of the Russian protocols for transiting through the area and chose to ignore them to create an incident, possibly as part of a plan to disrupt the Trump-Putin discussions. If that is so, they were successful.

Mattis was somewhat taciturn relating to his accusation regarding Moscow’s meddling. He provided absolutely no evidence that Russia had been interfering in the latest election and there have been no suggestions from either federal or state authorities that there were any irregularities involving foreigners. There was, however, considerable concern over possible ballot and voting manipulation at state levels carried out by the major political parties themselves, suggesting that if Mattis is looking for subversion of democratic processes he might start looking a lot closer to home.

The only explanation that seems plausible is he did this as theater to set the stage. Tensions between the US and Russia are on a knifes edge if you believe all sides of media. Going to be very difficult for MSM to sell Trump admin Russia collusion narrative when the take down happens under the current tensions
