Is There A Hidden Message In Hillary Clinton's Second Private Email Address hrod17

Here's another question to add to the long and growing list of those that have gone unasked since Hillary Clinton announced her run for the presidency on April 12.

What is the significance of that second private email address?

When the New York Times reported that Hillary had used a private email account — hdr22@clintonemail.com — for all her official State Department correspondence, her office insisted that she only used that one.

But this week, the New York Times posted official emails she sent to former journalist turned Clinton hatchet man Sidney Blumenthal using a second private email account on that same server.

That discrepancy naturally has been the focus of the coverage of this latest revelation.

But there's another layer of intrigue to be explored. Take a closer look at that newly discovered email address: hrod17@clintonemail.com.

Now, obviously, the "hrod" part of it refers to Hillary Rodham. But what about the number?

Back in the old AOL days, and even now with popular email services like Google, people sometimes added numbers to their email addresses because most choices had already been taken. So you might end up with something like JSmith22@aol.com.

But Hillary had her own private email server, and so had an unlimited choice of names for her email account. Why tack on any number at all? And why 17?

Could it be a reference to the year 2017? If she were elected president, her first term would begin in January 2017.

We're not in the business of making wild speculations, but if we were, we'd say that's almost certainly what The Inevitable Hillary was thinking when she came up with this handle.

She has, after all, acted as though the presidency were hers for the taking. (Time's Zeke Miller earlier noted that the "22" in Hillary's other private email account happens to be "halfway to becoming 44," that is, the 44th president.)

As an added bonus, the "hrod17" address would spare Hillary the "hassle" of coming up with yet another private email account when she got to the White House.

But as we said, we don't traffic in speculation.
