Perhaps we're going at this the wrong way with Magic Sword. I went listening to the White Squall soundtrack on Youtube out of curiosity and while I can only find the first 12 tracks, there's parts of it that sound pretty similar.

I think what we hear in the news clips is well within (White Squall)composer Jeff Rona's wheelhouse, and just poking around his soundcloud suggests he's very into synth. The piece might be his but I don't have the time to go through his whole catalog.
