Watch the water?

The iconic Yellowstone volcano landmark is the world’s tallest and most active geyser but recent activity has gone off the charts. Yellowstone Volcano Observatory (YVO) geologists monitoring the supervolcano complex have noted almost weekly water eruptions from the geyser this year. Steamboat has so far erupted a total of 29 times in 2018, matching the record for most eruptions in one year from 1964. If the ongoing rate of eruptions continues, officials believe Steamboat will break the record in just three days.

People living in these areas would see “tens of feet” of ash fall, covering whole towns in a sea of ash and debris.

Doctor Harley Benz of the US Geological Survey said huge eruptions in the past had left nothing in its wake.

He said: “We’re talking about a huge area that was covered in tens of feet of ash, in a very large area out to 100 miles from the centre.”

The researchers found a correlation between the sun and volcanoes and believe solar flares are to blame, or the lack thereof. Solar flares smack the earth’s atmosphere with such force, that they disrupt the normal wind circulation patterns. This disturbance in the atmospheric ocean jarringly alters the earth’s spin, which in turn triggers a series of small earthquakes, thereby allowing the pent-up stresses to be released in less cataclysmic events.

From the article -

For example, in 1883, the Indonesian volcano Krakatau erupted in one of the deadliest volcanic disasters, killing 36,000 people. At exactly the same time, the data started to exhibit low dust concentration whenever there was high sunspot activity, a correlation that violated the scientists' original assumptions.

"By carefully studying the timing of other volcanic eruptions, we found that they coincided with all of the correlation reversals between sunspots and climate," said Ram.

Oh, I am sorry, you are the fucking expert. What does watch the water mean? What is wrong with the sauce? Do I know where this leads? No. Isn't the process here to investigate to see where it leads? Are you the highest ranking anon who decides what is proper?

Last things I could find

Over the last several days there has been new thermal activity in the Geyser Hill area of the Upper Geyser Basin. This includes new erupting vents splashing water on the boardwalks, surface fractures, and a rare eruption of Ear Spring on Saturday, September 15.

Geyser Hill lies across the Firehole River from Old Faithful and features dozens of hot springs, geysers, and fumaroles.

For the public’s safety some boardwalks and trails in the Geyser Hill area have been temporarily closed. Closure signs are posted. Find additional information at the Old Faithful Visitor Education Center during business hours.

The boardwalks around Old Faithful remain open.

There are no signs of impending volcanic activity in the park.

Read more about recent observations on the Yellowstone Volcano Observatory website.
