what I figured out in my mind is the number 23 has something to do with consiousness/DNA. Awakened DNA = consciousness (according to my philosophy).
So the dark is focussed on 23, a state of consciousness, possibly entitled with demonic spirits. I believe the truth is to be found somewhere along this way.
