Language in Comey's Testimony: Did HRC violate the Espionage Act or simply "mishandle" data??

Doing a search on the phrases "espionage" and "mishandl" reveals Comey's steadfast resistance to language that might imply that the HRC investigation had something to do with "espionage" as opposed to merely "mishandling" data.

Early on, Gowdy introduces the "espionage" angle (p. 12):

Mr. Gowdy. Director Comey, Peter Strzok was an FBI agent who was assigned to the Clinton Espionage Act investigation. Do I have that right?

Mr. Comey. That is correct.

Shortly afterwards, Gowdy again uses the word "espionage" in connection with the Clinton investigation (p. 12). This time, Comey re-casts the language to the much more vague "mishandling of classified information":

Mr. Gowdy. So, from January 2016 up until your July 5th press statement, it is fair to say that both Special Agent Peter Strzok and FBI Attorney Lisa Page were working on the Clinton Espionage Act or mishandling of classified information investigation?

Mr. Comey. The reason I'm hesitating, Mr. Gowdy, is I've never applied the label of Espionage Act investigation. It was an investigation into the mishandling of classified information.

This discussion on the nature of HRC's actions continues throughout the Hearing. Comey mostly gets his way, but there are still mentions of the Espionage Act throughout.

Re: "body too long

I do deep digs, often run into this. So far, I've just split the post into two parts and put "PART 1 of 2" or "See Attachment" at the top.

No, he "doesn't know" much!

Comey had to chose between looking incompetent or guilty…..amazing how low IQ these leads of state are–can't even recall anything of import…..
