POTUS travels with support heavies that carry the all of the necessary motorcade vehicles, equipment and personnel that obviously don't fit inside AF1. There would often be multiple C-17s (or C-141s back in my days) that would accompany or deploy ahead of AF1. POTUS rolls deep, son.
