C-130J Hercules Tactical Training Operations in Northern NSW and QLD
C-130J Hercules aircraft will be conducting night and weekend training missions in Queensland and New South Wales as part of the No. 37 Squadron Tactical Training Exercise, from Friday 7 December to the early morning of Thursday 13 December 2018.
The Tactical Training Exercise is the culmination of six months of C-130J Hercules training for a cadre of instructors, co-pilots, and loadmasters. The activity will involve a variety of airdrop operations, tactical airfield landings, formation and low- level flight.
The Tactical Training Exercise comprise the final missions before members will apply their skills on real operations around the world. Individual trainees have spent over 100 hours in simulation before validating skills on live training missions.
Flying sorties will take place between 1pm and into the evening until 12.30am each day, including weekend flying.
Exercise activities will take place over and in the vicinity of:
Wondai, Queensland
Burren Junction, New South Wales
Walcha, New South Wales
Air Force appreciates the support from the Queensland and New South Wales communities whilst it conducts this important training exercise.

U.S. Air Force C-130Js and C-130Hs from several active duty, Air National Guard, and reserve units start their engines on the flight line at Dyess Air Force Base, Texas, in preparation for the U.S. Air Force Weapons School Joint Forcible Entry 17B at Nellis AFB, Nev., Dec. 9, 2017. This exercise tests the Air Force’s capability for tactical airlift by being able to get personnel to a simulated hazardous environment.

Every six months, the U.S. Air Force Weapons School graduates approximately 100 weapons officers and enlisted specialists who are tactical system experts, weapons instructors and leaders of Airmen.
The Joint Forcible Entry 17B is a USAFWS large-scale airdrop and land mobility mission at Nellis AFB, Nev., in which students from the weapons school plan and execute a complex air-land operation in a simulated contested battlefield
