Why, you ask?

If we go back to gold standard, FRNs could quickly be replaced, but coins would be a logistic nightmare. It might be easiest (and constitutionally proper) to phase in silver.

 

With only 8B in coins circulating, it would cost less than 100B to exchange clad for silver.
