The point is that Dubya NEVER looked at it and just slipped it to Laura. Dubya just looked straight ahead showing only a look of shame. Therefore he KNEW what Laura and Jeb were mortified over. How did he know? It was prearranged in a private meeting with POTUS the night before. POTUS and Dubya looking at each other moments before (strange behavior at such a time) was the signal by PTUS to get ready for the hand-off. Nothing else makes sense.
