The sun is shifting its path. Global warming, now climate change = unlimited funds to explore.
As we are experiencing extremes in weather, wam places getting colder, Antarctica warming up, the path of the sun is melting out more and more of Antarctica.
The continental US used to be under massive amounts of ice. The sun's path melted it, the "New World" was found and we are in what might be considered "old Antarctica" or some such.
The sun/moon binary system (electromagnetic, centered around a magnetic pole, spins and expands/contracts/shifts.
Hypothesis: There are other sun systems (solar systems) that are farther out than our planes can travel, hence the rocket missions, leading to "space" shuttle missions that can return. Space is not up, it's out there. Aliens aren't "up there", they are other civs out there beyond our reaches. You can even see the Egyptian heiroglyphs showing aircraft. We've been visited/farmed before.
The different races are offspring of these "alien" peoples.
The elites & stars who have checked out (faked death) may be resettling in a neighboring friendly "pond".
