What about High Frequency Trading that has turned stock markets into casinos? It's no longer possible to invest in promising companies as a private investor as HFT is designed to anticipate/track price movements not underlying viability and potential profitability in the future. HFT is just betting on price movements regardless of underlying reason for same and encourages the ubiquitous pump and dumps that rob private investors.
