Mateja, who served as special counsel to Comey when he was the deputy attorney general, added: โ€œOne thing I know about Jim Comey is that he has a phonographic and a photographic memory. Everything he hears and everything he sees, he remembers, but I think that he felt compelled to do that given the situation.โ€

Why Do So Many Indian Children Go Missing?

It is remarkably difficult to get reliable figures about how many Indian children go missing, but the scale of the problem appears to be staggering. According to the countryโ€™s Ministry of Women and Child Development, 242,938 children disappeared between 2012 and 2017. But according to TrackChild, a government database, nearly that many children โ€” 237,040 โ€” went missing between 2012 and 2014 alone.

According to the 2016 Global Slavery Index, India had the largest number of slaves of any country in the world. Again, the lack of hard data about the issue is an issue in itself.

Ribhu believes the number of missing children is actually closer to 500,000 per year, according to The New York Times.
