You should watch Psycho-Pass.
You haven't seen anything, yet. It's probably one of the best cop dramas ever written, for more reason than one.
Gen Urobuchi is a genius among geniuses.
Fate/Zero - the best greek tragedy ever written. Also, consider how the mage families behave and how they are portrayed as thinking.
Expelled From Paradise - a movie, rather forward thinking in its ideas. On the other hand, what if there is a Dyson Sphere around a brown dwarf with a binary orbit period of 24,000 years to our Sol?
Aldnoah.Zero - he wrote the first several episodes and the outline for the series. It suffered from his moving to another project, but is still intriguing.
Madoka Magica - if Q asks us to sign a contract, I'm out. But, seriously, Sis Puella MAGA (the end will be like magic… Latin, boys and girls). You wonder where they got the idea of using humans as cattle for food?
Kill la Kill deserves mention, but that's nor Urobuchi. But holy symbolism, batman. When the character whose name means "Yellow Dragon Empress" stands atop a pyramid and proceeds to skewer an alien-possessed witch on a cross just as the sun crests the top of the pyramid… Then you start keeping track of who has what eyes missing, what the role of the only black person was (to said witch), etc…
The Japanese media have been putting the writing on the motherfuckin' wall. Evangelion, date a live… It's honestly like the Japanese media is at war with the western media. It sounds weird given some of the aspects of Japanese society - but ever since the early 90s, they started beating the alarm like the end of the world was nigh, and the symbolism has only become more overt and blatant.
Consider the lyrics to one of the songs for Aldnoah.Zero - about humans who became aliens only to try and take over the world. "Aliez" - the song skips through several languages, though the coherent parts are either in Japanese or German - basically asking if we see the signal and how much longer they have to scream before they are understood.
From teh joo tube: https://youtu.be/67xkNAzGgsw that has both the romanized lyrics and the english translation. It's literally right fucking there in bold faced lettering that they are speaking.
But… What was I even responding to?
