Baphomet is not transgender.

She is FEMALE.

The name Baphomet is Hebrew and in Hebrew, feminine names end in -t. So Baphomet is female.

In Greek, her name is Sophia, goddess of Wisdom. This is a Greek Christian Gnostic statue of Sophia. Possibly someone misinterpreted the wings as horns and that is how she became associated with goats. Or the caduceus which was associated with wisdom and also topped by two wings, was confused with Pan's penis and the goat god was merged with Sophia. In any case, Baphomet is simply the Hebrew cipher for Sophia using the Atbash system which is several hundred years older than Christ.

It seems to be a serious possibility that Islam originated as a confused form of Baphomet goddess worship. The Arabic goddess Al-Lat had her name masculinized to Al-Lah and Bahomet sounded like Mahomet which to the arabs was a perfectly normal masculine name. At that time Arabic was a huge number of dialects with variant pronunciations that often involved vowel variations. Even today there is more than one dialect so the name will be pronounced as Muhamad or Mohamed and so on. The M prefix means a person who… and the word Hamada means praise. So Muhammad would mean a person who is praised, and it is easy to see that an eloquent prophetic religious teacher might have that name. Even if he originally got his ideas from a woman named Baphomet, or a woman who was a priestess of Al-Lat who preached the Greek gnostic teachings of Sophia, the prophet likely found that his words were more accepted, and his donations were higher, if he played down the goddess parts and made Al-Lah into the Arabic version of Yahweh.

So confusion reigned and continues to reign. Paganism, Islam, Christianity and Mithraism all fuse together, Greek mystery schools and Egyptian mystery religion contribute, and nobody really knows what or who they are worshipping. Perhaps that is because every one of them is like Narcissus gazing in the reflective pool of water, and worshipping himself. The world of modern religion, whether it is LaVey's Satanism or Roman Catholicism or Hassidic Judaism is just a bunch of people looking through the looking-glass and believing that they have found God.

But, Plato told us long ago, that God is NOT that which is reflected on the walls of our cave. We must search within and find the source of the reflections because that is where we will find reality, and that is where God is.
