A friend of mine used to hold a high office in a Balkan country…we were talking about the horrors of the militant religious when they said how grateful they were for having lived/grown up in a country that forbid religious asshattery. Perfectly nice person but sees the shit religion causes in families etc and was glad they never had to deal with it.
