Individual was under surveillance by French Intelligence services ("fiché S").
Personally I would feel much safer in an armed society where people demonstraly have plenty of self-control (like in the USA) than in a disarmed society where people fear how "others" (think projection) would behave if they had guns. It is just common sense.
Sadly this is not a popular opinion in France or Europe. People are taught to sacrifice liberty for the illusion of safety. It is very sad. We are lucky that you guys are fighting to keep your guns, never give up!
