These 'retirement plans' are essentially a carrot on a stick for the average american/average worker.

 

The average worker doesn't stay employed at a job for 20+ years.

 

The average worker doesn't get a 401k that ever amounts to anything.

 

The average worker doesn't get much more than minimum wage these days.

 

The average worker can't buy 1 google stock/month and afford to support the rest of their existence.

 

So your 'millions of americans' that are collecting these retirement plans are not the ones that worked hard for decades. they maybe played the market and made some investments with other peoples' money.

 

the stock market is a fucking joke of a system.
