Most Employees will have to pay into the 401k, and the company can choose or not to MATCH and/or RAISE the employee's contribution.
Some companies JUST MIGHT pay a tiny percent into it, if you don't, but you will NOT have a retirement plan off that.
50k is NOT a retirement plan.
Retirement age is 65.
People live well into their 90s.
You going to make 50k last another 25+ years?
Only way to make that 50k last is if you were able to convert it into a couple million without losing it all in bad stocks.
