"FEMA Considering 80 acres in Butte County"
CHICO, Calif. - FEMA is considering an 80-acre plot of land in northern Chico as a site for temporary housing for those displaced by the Camp Fire.
Action News Now reporter Laura Eng visited the site off of Eaton Road, south of the Chico Airport, to speak with neighbors in the area about the possible changes. Those in the area said that the streets can get fairly busy after school and during rush hour.
If FEMA approves the plot of land, it will house hundreds of temporary homes for Camp Fire evacuees.
The Chico City Council will meet on Wednesday to hear from residents in the area about the possible changes.
"If our community has enough concerns, and unmitigated concerns, with the site, I have reason to believe the federal government will hear us out," said Randall Stone, Chico city council member.
A FEMA representative told Action News Now they're looking at several other properties in Butte County as well.
