kind of hard to have a fireplace without a mason involved. maybe they aren't a free one, but any builder will tell you that there is a right and a wrong way to do it. And some in between.
The pillars concept is a cool one, it's a great design motiff and makes for a pleasent presentation. Yes, it is usurped in emblemry. But if a shield is made out of gold do you say that those who use that shield to represent their pagentry also 'own' the idea of gold? Pillar, or architectural arches are masonry. And masons, maybe not Freemasons, made them. So does that mean that all buildings are freemason symbology? Do you thus now need to vacatt your house and go live in the pines?
Of course not.
Just because some group uses a symbol or imagery of a particular style doesn't mean that every other use of that style or symbol is also 'owned' by that group.
