"… whosoever believe in …"
Raised as I was, steeped in the culture of these beliefs, …. I confess I never understood the phrase "Believe In …." What does it mean, for what does it ask?
I do at times "Believe That …." It is a form, "Believe That P," where P is a proposition or statement, typically of a form asserting some presumed or proposed FACT. Like, I believe that the sun rises in the East. (OK.) Or, I believe that turtles once flew high. (Well, open to discussion, perhaps.)
Do I believe IN the sun rising in the East? Not at all. Would I believe IN flying turtles? If I am asked to "Believe IN" something, then what am I being asked to do? What could that possibly mean.
Or is "Believe IN" a ritual of control. Is it, "Do you Believe In …?", asked of a person in order to identify their subordination to an Icon, a Symbol (no matter how significant it is in however many lives)? Is it saying "I Demand to See Your Identity Beliefs!"?
Then, is it a Ritual of membership? If one Believes In, then one is "Immersed" into the culture defined by … something patently undefined, a Phrase shared among "Believers In", and Identity-Card of Belief to be supported by relevant other statements of FACT about one's behavior, or simply statements of a form that Conforms to a form of approved, uh, statement forms? I Do Solemnly Swear I Believe In the …..(fill in) of …. (fill in, optional).
Kneel and Swear I shall give up my person to that … form, the substance of which is a mystery and beyond my mortal frailty, and place my HOPE ABOVE my REASON that I shall be… properly rewarded in some future existence for my FEALTY TO this MYSTERY BELIEF IN.
So, is it that we must choose which Mystery we must surrender our lives in order to be some future mystery day be rewarded appropriately for our deep, deep commitment which stands in stead for our Belief That … anything else at all forever and ever?
This is a puzzle. This is a challenge, no matter how it is cut. No one, no matter how sincere, no matter how theatrical, no matter how sacrificing and pleading, … NO ONE can ever overcome fully the doubt beneath the Believe IN meme, and so NO ONE who professes it is ever free from the GUILT projected upon themselves which is the true HANDLE OF CONTROL over men's lives.
Women's, too, of course, and LGBT … – and also all life everywhere, if you really think about it.
So, WAKE THE FUCK UP, people. You are The Light at the core of all being. Surrender to the Light THAT you know exists.

Better, search within. Turn your attention to the deepest seat of your Being. Notice. Notice what is. Notice the FACT undeniable. Not IN but THAT !
