Modifying a Samsung phone to add root will toggle a warranty bit and trip knox security preventing a number of features from functioning. On boot the device will list warranty void once modified (i think it's a prom bit write once read many memory). Reinstalling the original OS does not reset the bit. So anything done was done by admins @ FBI. Also flashing a different recovery or other flash memory segments can cause other issues.
