Historically people have presumed that religious authorities will adhere to the basic civil rights of their culture. For thousands of years organized criminals have taken advantage of this cognitive bias. Long ago they subverted all religions to the core to gain fast track first claim to violate the civil rights of the most vulnerable in our communities and families. It is mental to give these scumbags preferred access to vulnerable children and senile old people. All religious orgs are comped directly proportional to their size. Where I live the megachurch con man and his accomplices lurk 2-3 days a week in the hospital, fleecing old folks and the dying of everything the sawbones and insurance bookies don't get.
