Been seeing some chatter on here thinking an EMP could kill us. More or less. Not counting any defensive assets we have in place to defend against such a thing…this is why we wouldnt be fucked.

Electronic transformers, some rechargable batteries,(any device capable of holding capacitance via an induced voltage), magnetic memory and specifically any non shielded tech with low amerage polarity integrated componants( I.e. certain resistors, transistors, and diodes) would be infected by an EMP.

Things that could likely withstand an EMP depending on strength.

  • Various military electronics

  • electrical grids that still use magnetic transformers

  • any motor vehicle that uses solid state fuses, and doesnt require a computer to run. (I.E. Military humvees, older motor vehicles)

  • my hand held radios.

  • Your home Power distribution panel, so long as the breakers arent Archfault(neutral dependant) If the grid goes out temporally because of an EMP chances are if the power comes back on youre good.

  • About 50 percent of power plants in the U.S. These complexes can be typically housed in so much concrete that the facility itself would have to be at the epicenter of the pulse for the voltage of the waveform to present any real problem.

Yeah an EMP would fuck us up. But metaphorically speaking its more like a sucker punch to the back of the head then taking lead instead. There is a slight benifit to having an out of date electrical infrastructure…this is one
