When it Comes to Guantanamo, Trump is Truly the Builder in Chief.
The Trump administration has more than $200 million in new construction teed up for Guantanamo this year and next.
The biggest ticket item for the U.S. Navy base in Cuba in the so-called Omnibus Spending law is $115 million for a new 848-troop barracks across the street from the McDonald's and commissary to consolidate enlisted prison staff under one roof.

Millions for a tent city designed to last 50 years.
President Trump on Monday told Fox News he planned to build tent cities to hold migrants who cross the U.S.-Mexico border.
“We’re going to put tents up all over the place,” Trump said. “We’re not going to build structures and spend all of this, you know, hundreds of millions of dollars — we’re going to have tents.”
If Trump really wants to cut costs, he ought to talk to the U.S. Navy, which is spending millions of dollars on a tent city for migrants who haven’t even arrived yet.
On Feb. 22, the Navy awarded a California company a $27,117,000 contract to build what it describes as a “contingency mass migration complex” at the Guantanamo Bay Naval Base in Cuba.
(I think the 'migrant tents' thing is a cover story. Makes sense with the repeated caravans from down south.)

Construction Contract = ($27,117,000)
RQ Construction is pleased to announce that we have been awarded the Contingency Mass Migration Complex at NS Guantanamo Bay.
The contract also contains 10 unexercised options, which if exercised would increase cumulative contract value to $27,117,000.
