I do not think they are the same image.
Anyway…look at the image on the t-shirt from the 80s.
clearly the head shape, the chest, chin not 100% the same as the pin. In the 80s image there are two hands and I think the image is meant to represent the child manipulating something. In the latter image the child is now praying.
Your images I think are not of the same pin or badge but two different ones. Where is the cuff on the first image? The hair is totally different. Other issues.
