Maybe they were assembled independently from the same set of DNA legos.

 

Real science would consider the possibility rather than run with a set of apriori assumptions.

 

The observation that: "They came into being at the same time" is now extrapolated into an extinction event which limited the available DNA for evolution, with the unstated conclusion that evolution happened very quickly.

 

The problem is that IF it happened quickly then transitional forms should be found. Currently the argument why transitional forms are not found is due to the great intervals of time required for evolution.
