But there may be an even easier explanation, provided by Flynn’s sister in a tweet sent yesterday. Perhaps Flynn actually did lie to the FBI, but did so for purposes of intelligence classification:

15) Judge Sullivan took the case over from Judge Contreras, who was suddenly recused on Dec. 7, 2017, after accepting Flynn’s guilty plea on Dec. 1.
It was later disclosed that Contreras knew agent Strzok - the two may have been friends.
Contreras was also a FISA Judge.
16) Sullivan ordered the Flynn team to produce the Aug. 22, 2017, FD-302 they cited in their filing.
And ordered the government to file "any 302s or memorandum relevant to the circumstances discussed on pages 7-9 of the defendant’s sentencing memorandum by no later than" Dec 14.

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4 News) – The United States Attorney’s Office for Utah said this year with two weeks left, it has indicted 54 people for child exploitation.
U.S. Attorney John Huber said it’s very troubling.
“We can't tolerate this…We should not tolerate any of this in our community…” said Huber Thursday.
Huber, and the FBI Special Agent in Charge Eric Barnhart revealed the numbers during a media roundtable.
When it comes to child exploitation, Huber says his office takes on some of the worst cases you can imagine.
For instance, there’s one case involving an Ogden man who possessed more than 600 images of child pornography. He was sentenced to 11 years in federal prison, but Huber says forget out him and think of about all the victims associated with this crime.
“600 images of child pornography translate to 600 victims who have been raped, sodomized, and otherwise exploited for sexual gratification. That's why these crimes are serious… this isn't looking at a dirty magazine… this is harming children, exploiting them and passing on those images and videos,” said Huber.
Other topics discussed during the media roundtable were gangs and drug activity, violent crimes and a major reduction of bank robberies statewide. Comparing this year to last year, there’s a more than 50 percent reduction: 85 bank robberies last year to just 38 this year to date.
