The talc is a mineral that comes from a mine. Asbestos another mineral that tends to be found in the same deposits as the talc. So the talc is sometimes contaminated with asbestos.
Maybe there was a way to test & remove the asbestos. Or maybe it was "uneconomical" to mine only the higher-grade, purer talc deposits. In any case, it wasn't important enough to J&J to do the right thing. God will judge them.
Look at your Tums antacid tablets. Talc is an ingredient there too. Ewwww.
