The authors are from Cyprus and Savvas Zannettou was named as a Google Scholar. More "wrap up smear" reporting from WaPo in collusion with universities who willing lend credence to his papers. If you look at his 'google scholar' page you'll see that the co-authors remain consistent….almost like they are their own publishing company or something. (Look at 2018. Isn't that a lot of papers to publish in one year? j/s

Thinking about Google Scholar and what fuckery it could get up to. Turns out that universities link to it for easy access to published papers. So if you wanted to, for example, try to squash free speech you could publish a paper about hate speech and then push it (cite it in a newspaper article for example) or push it as a 'cited' article to any one of the colleges that links to it.

In other words, Google Scholar is just one more way of pushing 'their' agenda. While it could serve some useful purposes, it looks to me like it is the education version of a wrap up smear. Those guys in Cyprus are a good example. They write bullshit, Cornell links to it and puts it under Cornell bannerhead and it gains automatic credibility. Threw in a search term and these are the results (cap related).
