PHOENIX — Former Phoenix-area Sheriff Joe Arpaio has filed a defamation lawsuit seeking $300 million against three news organizations- CNN, Huffington Post and Rolling Stone magazine.
Why? They all reported he was a “convicted felon” who went to prison.
Arpaio alleges that their inaccurate references to his criminal case have hurt his chances at possibly running in 2020 for the US Senate seat formerly held by John McCain.

GALVESTON, Texas – A 41-year-old Mexican national who illegally resided in Houston has been ordered to prison following his conviction of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine and methamphetamine, announced U.S. Attorney Ryan K. Patrick. Agusto Lazo-Aguirre pleaded guilty March 2, 2018.
Today, U.S. District Judge George C. Hanks Jr. ordered him to prison for 325 months. Not a U.S. citizen, he is expected to face deportation proceedings following his release. At the hearing, Lazo-Aguirre was found to be a leader, manager and organizer of the group and was found to have distributed or been responsible for the distribution of more than five kilograms of cocaine and more than 50 grams of actual methamphetamine during the course of the conspiracy between July 1, 2015, and Feb. 22, 2016.

Baltimore, Maryland – U.S. District Judge Catherine C. Blake sentenced Adam Robert Miller, age 29, of Baltimore, Maryland, today to 10 years in prison, followed by 25 years of supervised release, for possession, receipt, and distribution of child pornography. Miller also took sexually explicit images and videos of a minor female beginning when she was 15 years old.
Judge Blake also ordered that, upon his release from prison, Miller will be required to register as a sex offender in the places where he resides, where he is an employee, and where he is a student, under the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA).

Mayport Navy Lieutenant Pleads Guilty To Using The Internet To Entice And Meet A Child To Engage In Sexual Activity
Jacksonville, Florida – United States Attorney Maria Chapa Lopez announces today that Michael Douglas McNeil (31, Jacksonville) has pleaded guilty to using the internet to attempt to entice a child to engage in sexual activity. McNeil faces a minimum mandatory penalty of 10 years, and up to life, in federal prison. McNeil is a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy; he has been detained since his arrest on August 30, 2018.
According to court documents, on August 27, 2018, a detective with the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, who was posing online as a family member of a 12-year-old handicapped child, received a message on a social media application from McNeil, who identified himself as “Mark.” McNeil expressed interested in having sex with the “child” and was advised that the “child” was 12 years old.
Between August 27 and August 30, 2018, McNeil and the undercover detective discussed plans for McNeil to meet the “child” for sex. McNeil asked for several photos of the “child,” sent the undercover detective an explicit photo of himself, and asked specific questions about the “child’s” sexual experience and abilities. On August 30, 2018, McNeil drove to a coffee shop in Orange Park to meet the “child” for sex and was arrested.

China Suspends Tariff Hike on US Cars, Parts Amid Trade Ceasefire
China is temporarily removing retaliatory tariffs placed on U.S. cars, trucks, and auto parts in another sign that China is making good on pledges made with the United States during the G-20 summit in Argentina.
From Jan. 1, Beijing will halt for 90-days the extra 25 percent tariff it had placed on cars and trucks from the U.S., as well as a 5 percent charge on auto parts, the Finance Ministry announced on Dec. 14.
The tariff cut lowers the charge for U.S.-made cars and trucks in China to 15 percent—the same level as imports from other countries.
The suspension marked a second concession made by the Chinese regime amid a trade truce with the United States following a meeting between President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the G-20 Summit in Argentina on Dec. 1.

Danish NGO has illegally turned Greek airport into a refugee camp – Greek MP
According to the Greek MP Christos Chatzisavvas, of the Greek nationalist party Golden Dawn, the airport of Polykastro has been illegally transformed into a refugee camp by the NGO “Danish Refugee Council”.
The MP filed a question to the competent ministers, in which he quotes a press release of the Polykastro Air Force Training Academy.
Specifically, the Academy states that since 1986 the Hellenic Army Air Force has reserved the Polykastro Airport for the local Airforce Academy, in order for them to undertake their military exercises.
However, the Hellenic Defence ministry kept the right to use the runway of the airport only for training purposes.
Polykastro Airforce Academy claims that the airfield has been illegally turned into a refugee camp since February 2016 by the NGO “Danish Refugee Council” covered up by the Hellenic Defence Ministry.

Chinese sex-trafficking couple used WeChat to lure mainland women into prostitution in US, prosecutors say
A Chinese husband and wife living in New Hampshire used WeChat to entice women to come to the US on tourist visas to serve in the sex industry in northern New England, according to court documents.
Sou Chao Li, 37, and his wife, Derong Maio, 37, orchestrated an elaborate scheme involving at least 27 women and hotels and rented houses across Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont, US prosecutors wrote.
The pair of Chinese nationals, who are both US residents, made their initial appearance in court on Thursday and will be detained until their next hearing on Tuesday.
The indictment unsealed upon their arrest indicated the pair arranged for travel for the women via WeChat and collected proceeds either themselves or through intermediaries.
