There are other recent examples, but I think Skippy's tweet + rolling stone hit piece was designed to get ahead of the narrative. Something in the continuing vein of, "Pizzagate was already debunked, and now Trump has aligned himself with the tinfoil hat conspiracy theory crowd. They're crazy, and he's just as crazy as they are."
My theory is this will be part of their defense when they are arrested and charged.
