I mean… I get it, but I don't.

This is something coming up in ADE - the concept of the mad god. The world in front of us is just the product of a god looking desperately within itself for purpose and meaning as it is all that there ever can be.

Which is a fascinating, if useless concept. It is little more than glorified Nihilism. It takes you on quite the adventure before it dumps you off at that point, but the logical extension of this train of thought always has the only terminal on the loop at the stop of Nihilism.

The simple irony of it all being that the realization/proof of such a truth, should it be the case, destroys the entire purpose of the existence, which is effectively to distract god from its omniscience.

The villain who lay at the edge of reality, itself - Kefka.

Somehow, I am a bit more dubious… But the enthusiasm is appreciated.

We are certainly at a cross-roads, and many in attendance are quite exceptional people, if eccentric as can be.

… What does any of that actually mean, anon? Does coconut oil help us get to the next dimension, or is that raditz?

MMOs are relatively mainstream, these days. Most of the 'classic gamer' crowd has moved on to other stuff. People who think Big Bang Theory is good are the people driving the AAA market, now, and that's why Diablo Immortal and Fallout 76 are a thing.

Back to the initial point, the thing about MMOs is that they allow for social environments. Chat rooms built into an online game. The kind of stuff techno-fantasy was written about decades ago. Of course it's a place to meet up and discuss your plans to take over the world, too. Do it creatively as an RP group, and then how do you prove in a court that a group was talking about their plot… And not the game or its lore?

Of course, if you wanted to try and meet kids online, that might work. Although society has become fairly hardened against the internet for that reason.
