Power Restored After Outage Leaves DC Memorials in the Dark
Abraham Lincoln's likeness can be seen glowing from the end of the National Mall every night in Washington, D.C. — but tonight his giant statue sat in darkness.
Pepco says a power outage has left the Lincoln Memorial, Memorial Bridge, D.C. War Memorial and the Korean War Veterans Memorial in the dark Sunday night.
By about 10:30 p.m., the Lincoln Memorial was back to its fully-lit glory as well as the other areas affected by the outage.
Street lights on Independence Avenue and Rock Creek Parkway were also out.
Pepco said earlier it had narrowed down the cause of the outage to a faulty underground cable and crews were working to replace it.
