I suggest 2 things:
1 - mocking the aggrieved who come to pay respects to their loved ones and think they're standing over the remains of their beloved, but might actually be standing over an empty tomb, or someone else's remains, or animal remains, etc.
2 - If the remains aren't where they're supposed to be, the likelihood that they've been desecrated in some ghoulish ritual seems pretty strong. (skull & bones, etc.)
