President Trump’s Message for Michael Flynn on Sentencing Day

by Team Bongino December 18, 2018

President Trump has tweeted well wishes to his former national security adviser Michael Flynn as he heads to his sentencing hearing today.

Good luck today in court to General Michael Flynn. Will be interesting to see what he has to say, despite tremendous pressure being put on him, about Russian Collusion in our great and, obviously, highly successful political campaign. There was no Collusion!

The hearing begins at 11:00 a.m. in U.S. District Court in Washington D.C. and is highly anticipated due to the corrupt nature of the FBI’s actions surrounding their infamous January 2017 interview with Flynn.

Last week, Flynn’s attorneys filed a sentencing memo in which they cited the 302 report from his interview with the FBI which show then-Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe urging Flynn to not have an attorney present for the questioning.

Before the interview, McCabe and other FBI officials “decided the agents would not warn Flynn that it was a crime to lie during an FBI interview because they wanted Flynn to be relaxed, and they were concerned that giving the warnings might adversely affect the rapport.”

Since the sentencing memo, the federal judge presiding over the case, Emmet G. Sullivan ordered Mueller’s team to hand over any “302s or memoranda” related to Flynn’s questioning.

The documents turned over by Mueller showed that the FBI agents who interviewed Flynn–Peter Strzok and Joe Pientka–believed Flynn thought he was telling them the truth when he spoke with them. One document stated that then-Acting Attorney General Sally Yates “was not happy” when she was informed that the FBI planned to talk to Flynn. The report also said several FBI employees “later argued about the FBI’s decision to interview Flynn.”
