Trump to sign US Space Command order this week, reports say

President Trump is expected to sign an order this week that will officially create the U.S. Space Command.

Three U.S. officials told CNN on Monday that the announcement may take place Tuesday during Vice President Pence’s visit to the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Fla. on Tuesday where he will be delivering a speech.

Pence, who Trump appointed as the chairman of the National Space Council, is also scheduled to meet with Joint Chiefs at the Pentagon this week. There, he is expected to discuss issues including the Space Command, which would be integrated into the Central Command and serve as the 11th combined combatant command.

Tunisia's truth commission wraps up 4-year mission

After four years working "under fire" and interviewing almost 50,000 witnesses, Tunisia's commission tasked with serving justice to victims of half a century of dictatorship is poised to submit its recommendations.

Set up in 2014 following the 2011 revolution and in the wake of dictator Zine al-Abidine Ben Ali's fall, the Truth and Dignity Institute has a mission to "reveal the truth about the human rights violations" in Tunisia from 1955 to 2013.

In its final act, the commission will submit its recommendations to Tunisia's leadership.

The first version is to be delivered at a public event Friday and Saturday, before the full report is submitted by Dec. 31.

152,000 displaced persons return to N. Darfur: Governor

Some 152,000 displaced persons have returned to their villages in Sudan’s western North Darfur State, the country’s SUNA news agency reported Thursday.

“In coordination with local and foreign organizations, North Darfur’s local government is providing assistance to returning displaced persons,” State Governor Mohamed Abad Samouh was quoted by SUNA as saying.

The total number of displaced persons in North Darfur currently stands at around 327,000, he added.

He went on to stress that the voluntary repatriation, resettlement and reintegration of displaced persons was “among the greatest challenges” now facing North Darfur State.

Since 2003, Darfur has been the scene of sporadic fighting between the Khartoum government and three separate rebel movements.

MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russian lawmakers approved draft legislation that would make it a jailable offense to call on teenagers to attend unauthorized street protests, a move Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny said on Tuesday was designed to frustrate his own activity.

Navalny, a 42-year-old lawyer who says he wants to succeed Vladimir Putin as president, has tried to win the support of a young demographic, including teenagers, some of whom have attended his nationwide anti-Kremlin protests.

Police have sometimes dispersed his rallies using force and jailed hundreds of attendees, including teenagers, whose presence has drawn sharp criticism from the Kremlin which has accused Navalny of manipulating minors for political gain.
